Towards the end of summer, we receive more enquiries about autumn anniversary celebrations. The venue is reserved, invitations are drafted and the programme begins to take shape. Food is often one of the last things to be decided.
We do not see food as something to add at the end. An anniversary brings together people who have shared your journey. What kind of time would you like them to spend together? Once that is clear, the food and the way it is served begin to fall naturally into place.
We Begin by Asking Who Will Be There
Our first question is about the guests you will welcome. Are most of them longstanding business partners, or people with whom you hope to build closer relationships? What is the age range? Will anyone be travelling from far away?
Understanding the guest list helps us consider whether a standing reception or a seated meal is more appropriate. If speeches and awards occupy a large part of the programme, we include more dishes that can be eaten comfortably while held in one hand. If many guests are meeting again after a long time, moving towards the food can itself create opportunities for conversation.
The Purpose of the Occasion Defines the Role of the Food
Some anniversary celebrations express gratitude. Others communicate a direction for the year ahead. For an occasion centred on thanks, we allow more time for unhurried conversation. For one looking towards the future, we might build a menu around an ingredient that represents that year or produce from a region in which the company plans to become more active.
In either case, we take care that the food does not dominate. The guests and their conversations are at the heart of an anniversary. The food is there to support that time together.

Clients often tell us that they are unsure whether a kitchen or a power supply is available. It is enough to share what you know. We can work in venues without permanent equipment and, when necessary, contact the venue team ourselves.
